Radical Reset: How I’m Designing a Spacious, Creative Life in 2025

I am starting the “miracle morning” protocol as described by Hal Elrod (a daily morning practice of Silence, Affirmations, Visioning, Exercise, Reading & Scribing/Journaling).
(NOTE: IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ACCOUNTABILITY GROUP, LET ME KNOW!)
I have, in recent years, been great about exercising in the mornings (rotating between yoga, pilates & walks in the morning hours) while fitting in some synchronous learning, but . . . let me take you on the long walk.
My husband intends to retire soon, and I have always said I want to continue working but do it with more spaciousness—have the flexibility in my work and my schedule to take vacations with him.
So when he declared at the beginning of 2024 that he was taking !!**7 weeks**!! of vacation, it felt like the gauntlet was thrown. I needed to figure out how to do this, like, now.
The result?
I kinda half-assed it.
I did not have the systems in place to fully meet his days off, and while I did take 5 weeks of vacation, with the other 2 weeks I generally had a meeting in the middle of a day, etc. I intellectually wanted to be able to take the days off, but I was often torn and feeling like I wasn’t doing what I wanted by him NOR by my business.
As I’ve said many times before, we all go into business for more freedom, and somehow I was not finding that freedom to meet a very worthy and inspiring challenge: more time off!
I also felt the drive to write and create with my hands.
At the same time, I was growing increasingly aware that my baby is approaching his May high school graduation.
So what does a mama and wife and business owner and human being do?
She makes some radical decisions. Again.
(I am betting you are seeing a trend here. I believe that life, if you are fully meeting the demands of it rather than going through it robotically, DEMANDS constant, bold reevaluation!)
So back to the beginning:
I am starting the “miracle morning” approach because it feels like a good way to carve out time for the energy and the practices that will inspire more creativity and a sense of spaciousness in my life.
I am going to bed earlier and cutting back on binging Ted Lasso to accommodate those practices (because I’m done with it hahahaha, but seriously, I told my husband I was not going to pick up another binge show right now).
I am also continuing to shore up systems (as mentioned before) in the first half of the year because I want my top priority to be being present to my baby’s last days at school and home (without letting my businesses slip). As a result, I could have started things like EMDR CIT training in January, but that is waiting till fall now!
I am focusing on rooting inward through self-nurture and creativity and connection with loved ones until September harvest.
So what’s to come this year?
- I am DONE with sitting so many hours (have you read that a sedentary lifestyle is as bad as smoking)? You may see me standing more during our sessions AND maybe even wobbling on my wobble board. I’m also contemplating spacing sessions out so I can move more, so watch for hours to change. And I am going to be promoting walk and talks at Sharon Woods harder this year.
- I am shifting more strongly toward EMDR/somatic/yoga therapeutic intensive work—I love creating big change in a short time and engaging the body in the process!
- I am going to start my first in-person yoga class in many years (and if you’re reading this and want to offer a space, I’m all ears).
- I am planning a winter retreat in Costa Rica.
- I’ve got my eyes on some small-scale writing projects (thus the creative accentuation this year) and will start by writing a review for the International Association of Yoga Therapy journal. I’m perusing parenting magazines as another potential outlet for communicating with my parents of high support needs kids—again, I am wide open to the synchronicity of what presents itself and is aligned with my vision!
- And you’re going to be seeing me a hella-lot more in social media as we build a library of support.
On the solstice, I wrote the following inspirational words in my journal:
SUBVERSIVE~~LOVE~~NURTURER
I will break all the rules and write new ones to be more connected to the people I serve and love.
Ready to subvert the “I can’ts” and make YOUR new life rules together? Ready to move and be moved? Ready to get radical clarity for a new phase of life?
